Victor Equipment Wheels Introduces the new Rotary Forged®/RF™ Wurttemburg design

Sponsored content provided by Victor Equipment Wheels

Victor Equipment Wheels is a leader in aftermarket wheel options specializing in Porsche specific fitments. All available wheel designs are designed with only Porsche vehicles in mind and engineered exclusively to perform optimally with Porsche applications. For 2017, the newest addition to the Victor Equipment lineup is our boldest design to date.

The Wurttemburg is a cutting-edge hybrid style of dynamic angles and precision detailing. Unique webbing casts a nice highlight for each window as it intersects the barrel and compliments the mechanical chiseled sculpting upon each undulating spoke. This split tapering variable design is a nod to the Porsches core technological progression of style. To suit your personal taste, the Wurttemburg is offered in two standard finishes; Gunmetal w/ Mirror Cut Face and Matte Black w/ Gloss Black Face. A two-tone finish accentuates the shape and contouring of the spoke design while remaining subtle enough to complement your Porsche.

A high performance vehicle requires a high performance wheel. Victor Equipment Wheels uses a proprietary Rotary Forged®/RF™ manufacturing process to increase barrel strength while reducing overall weight in comparison to the traditional cast wheel. The rim of the wheels is forged at high pressure while the wheel is spun at high speed. This alters the molecular structure and enhances the strength of the alloy. Most importantly, the weight saving is in the outer rim of the wheel which dramatically reduces rotational mass and enhances vehicle performance. The end result is an affordable wheel which retains structural properties of a more expensive fully forged wheel.

In order to offer compatibility with as many Porsche vehicles as possible, the Wurttemburg is offered in 18”, 19”, 20”, 21”, and 22” configurations with a variety of staggered and non-staggered fitments. Numerous offsets are also offered to fit perfectly on both narrow body and wide body chassis.

As with all Victor Equipment Porsche wheels, the Wurttemburg is engineered specifically for Porsche applications. No spacers or hub rings are required to achieve a perfect fitment. All Victor Equipment wheels are compatible with the OE Porsche TPMS sensors as well as the OE center cap.

To assist in making your purchasing process as simple as possible, Victor Equipment website features a vehicle fitment guide in which you can input your Porsche's year and model to pull up compatible designs. In addition to this, a live inventory showcases which Porsche rims are currently in stock at Victor Equipment's numerous distribution centers across the country.

Flow Forged | Rotary Forged | Flow Formed | Spun Forged

How a wheel is constructed was always important whether you're just cruising down the street or catching the weekend's track event. Many of us wanted really protect our biggest investment, our car, so consumers always sought out forged wheels or multi-piece wheels with forged rims/barrels. To others, we've bit the bullet and went with a cast wheel just to add some styling queues to our daily driver. To others, we had the option of going with couple brands like Enkei or WedsSport with wheels made with a flow forged process for our weekend track car with some sort of race inspired design. Today, many brands have utilized this process to bring you not just sporty and race inspired designs but to bring some luxury queues of the timeless multi-piece wheels with today's sharper edged designs.

As the title states, these type of cast forging process is a very unique method combining cost effective casting process with mass production. A typical gravity or low pressure cast wheel just stops here at casting the wheel but weight factors play a major roll with face design and size. Left with a lump of cast aluminum around the wheel rim, the cast wheel is then taken over to it's final construction step to have the wheel rim forged out. Placed on a mandrel, the wheel is spun and combining steel rollers with high heat treatment, the wheel rim is rolled out creating a flow formed, or insert of one of title combinations, structure of the wheel rim that of similar to a forged wheel. This process creates a wheel with majority of the wheel's weight being only on the face with a stronger and lightened wheel rim structure to greatly reduce overall weight of the wheels.

However, as the more intricate the designs become, overall weight savings turns into saving couple pounds compared to a similar cast wheel with a similar design as more material would be needed to create a wheel (more spokes, more material). But at the end, you get a much more durable wheel rim to absorb impacts from those accidental trips over those pesky potholes or steel road construction plates. Wheel rim forging also has a slight disadvantage over the traditional casting method with a higher cost due to the multi-process construction.

Today, many wheel companies take advantage of this process to create larger wheels to help save weight for consumer's today with automobile companies, like Honda, turning to factory 20" wheels just like the new Civic Type-R. Check out some of the newest designs out available in today's market and let us know if you have any questions for your car's next upgrade.

2016 Tesla Model S - Forgestar F14

Forgestar Performance Wheels have been in the industry for a long time. With over 30 years of combined experience in the automotive wheel industry Forgestar Performance Wheels has bridged the gap between forged wheels and cast wheels introducing the world’s first one piece lightweight rotary forged custom flow formed wheel lineup.

Rotary Forged Flow Forming is a production procedure that turns the wheel (or rim section) over a special mandrel and three hydraulic rollers using tremendous pressure. The pressure and turning then force the rim area to form against the mandrel, creating the shape and width of the rim. During this forming, the rim actually “flows” down to create the full rim width. The pressure applied to the cast rim actually changes its mechanical properties, so its strength and impact values become similar to those of a forged rim. That translates to up to 15% less weight when compared to a standard cast wheel. The technological breakthroughs in heat treating allow Forgestar to increase dent resistance without having to make the wheel heavier.

Forgestar Performance Wheels allows the customers to choose between a range of offsets for every wheel width that is offered. This allows the consumer to choose a wheel that will perfectly fit their own individual vehicle.

In today's install, we have a 2016 Tesla Model S getting fitted with a set of the classic Forgestar F14 in the 19" size. Wanting to run as close as possible to stock fit, we here at GetYourWheels utilized our huge library of brake measurement to finalize the best size option to sit as close to stock as possible and still clear the factory brakes.

Finalizing with the size of the wheel at 19X8.5, the customer aimed to get a ride as close as factory as possible and maximize tread wear with the Michelin Primacy MXV4 in 245/45/19. Swapping over his factory TPMS to the new setup, customer dealt with a pain and hassle free install. Definitely a great upgrade from the OEM "Turbine" wheels.

Forgestar wheels are great for anyone looking to doing an OE+ upgrade to an aggressive fitting setup. These can be made for just about anyone from compact cars, saloons, luxury sedans to exotics.

GetYourWheel'sTop 3 Wheels for 2013

Amidst the frenzy of shipping last minute Christmas orders out, yelling at the powdercoater for not including enough sparkles in the finish, and as always, responding to PM's and fitment advice, we finally have a small window of silence from all the daily chatter, and we decided to go over this year's top three wheels we've sold. While we are not on any truck or SUV forums - something we'll be focusing on this coming year - we are on a variety of automotive forums ranging from Infinity all the way to Ford. As a result, we see a lot of variety in the choices our customers decide on in their quest to finding the perfect wheel to compliment their car.

The top three wheels of this year are completely unbiased and includes any type of wheel we've sent out. This includes forged wheels, flow-formed wheels, cast wheels, and custom wheels. Wheels designed strictly for track use to 24-Karat Gold Plated wheels.

The 3rd most popular wheel this year goes to Volk Racing's TE37 SL. Easy to see why this made the list - the TE37 SL is Volk's most recent addition for the serious track enthusiast looking for a lightweight, track setup with plenty of brake clearance.

Next up we have a new release from Avant Garde Wheels. While it was only made available as of late 2013, the Avant Garde M510 was quickly adopted by enthusiasts and gained traction with all makes and models. Due to the ease of customization - thanks to Avant Garde's Bespoke program - the M510 was adopted rather effortlessly by enthusiasts from all our forums.

Finally, the most popular wheel this year is easily the Forgestar F14. The classic split-spoke design accompanied by Forgestar's Super Deep Concave profile is a no-brainer when looking for a wheel that's flow-formed and tailor built to your own specifications.

Thanks for reading and we wish everyone a happy holiday!

Forgestar F14's in Eastern Sierra

Dennis lives in the High Country of the Eastern Sierra. Dennis is actually a previous customer of ours and gave us a call in anticipation of his new 2014 Accord Coupe, fitted with the full HFP Aero Kit. He was closing the deal in a few days and wanted to discuss what his wheel options were.

As a classy gentleman and the unique atmosphere of the Eastern Sierra, we wanted to complete the car with a wheel that would endure all-year driving duties, without being too flashy all while retaining a OE+ look. While the parts of the Eastern Sierra does see light snow about 2-3 days a year, it wasn't something that required year-round snow tires.

However, we did take into consideration that a quiet drive, predictable handling, and a comfortable tire that was adaptable under different temperature extremes was a requirement. We decided on the Continental Extreme DW's. for this setup (Continental also makes the Exteme DWS which is capable of snowy road conditions).

We wanted a wheel style that complimented the factory body lines and wasn't too radical. Another requirement was a flush fitment, without spacers and without having to roll the fenders. This meant we needed to dial in a precise offset to accommodate the wheels, as we didn't want to run a stretched tire. We decided on 19x9 Forgestar Deep Concave F14's, with a more aggressive rear offset as the factory wheels are naturally sunken in further, thus needed the extra padding in the rear to bring them flush.

We're really happy with the way it turned out and Dennis is beyond ecstatic. It may not be a "show" worthy setup, but the Gloss Silver F14's was exactly what Dennis was looking for when he wanted to spruce up his 2014 Accord Coupe!
